Biographie
Michèle-Anna Mimouni est née à Carthage, en Tunisie. Son grand-père jouait de la mandoline, son père chantait, et il n’était pas rare que les repas familiaux se terminent en chansons, mêlant les airs de Louis Prima, Dario Moreno, Louis Armstrong, Jacques Brel, Édith Piaf, à des mélodies orientales comme “Chéri, je t’aime” ou “Y’a Mustapha”.
Elle a commencé le piano à l’âge de 4 ans, lorsque sa mère l’a surprise à reproduire instinctivement, et à la perfection, des chansons sur un piano-jouet. Dotée d’une oreille naturellement très développée, elle a entamé son apprentissage musical avec une grande aisance.
À l’âge de 15 ans, elle entre en seconde au lycée Racine à Paris pour y préparer un baccalauréat avec option musique, coefficient 4. Ce cursus aux horaires aménagés, réservé aux artistes, est jumelé avec le Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris. Elle y suit les classes de piano, de solfège et de musique de chambre.
Baccalauréat en poche, elle s’inscrit à la Sorbonne en musicologie. Elle obtient son DEUG ainsi qu’un 1eᵉ prix de piano, un 1er prix de solfège et un 1er prix de musique de chambre au Conservatoire de Paris.
Ces années d’apprentissage classique lui font ressentir un manque profond : le jazz, l’improvisation, la soul et la chanson lui manquent terriblement. Elle renoue avec le chant et suit l’enseignement de maîtres tels que Yva Barthélémy et Julas Pelaes.
Elle étudie l’improvisation et l’harmonie jazz (piano) pendant trois ans à l’American School of Modern Music. Elle suit également des cours de batterie à l’école Agostini.
Forte de cette formation éclectique, elle décroche de nombreux contrats dans des piano-bars et des soirées privées, où elle partage la scène avec Manu Katché, Al Di Meola, Al Jarreau, Jean-Louis Aubert, Axel Bauer, Paco Sery ou encore Lionel Richie.
Elle accompagne également plusieurs artistes en tournée, dont Nancy Holloway, Gogol 1er et Rachel des Bois. Elle participe à de nombreux albums en tant que pianiste ou choriste.
Lors d’une master class de John Scofield, elle rencontre le contrebassiste et arrangeur Juan-Sebastien Jimenez, qui l’initie encore davantage au jazz. Ensemble, ils enregistrent son premier album, simplement intitulé "Michèle-Anna", où ils revisitent de manière inattendue des chansons de Vincent Scotto, Léo Ferré, Glanzberg et Contet.

En 1998, elle se lie d’amitié avec Brad Mehldau, pianiste de jazz de renommée mondiale. Plus tard, en 2009, ils enregistrent ensemble son deuxième album,"Entre ombre et lumière", publié sous le label Ames. Elle y écrit des textes sur des compositions de Mehldau, mais aussi sur Les Contes de ma mère l’Oye de Maurice Ravel.

Son troisième album, "Je kiffe mon café", révèle ses talents d’autrice-compositrice. Douze titres originaux, presque autobiographiques, dans un style très "French style" avec accordéon, réalisés avec son complice Juan-Sebastien Jimenez. Cet album est un mélange subtil de jazz, de chanson et de classique, où elle livre une part intime de son parcours avec poésie.
Elle incarne pendant de nombreuses années la Parisienne auprès d’une clientèle internationale au restaurant mythique Chez Maxim’s, où elle anime les dîners avec un répertoire mêlant pop, chanson française, musiques du monde et jazz.
Là, elle se produit devant Liza Minnelli, Lady Gaga, Woody Allen, John Travolta… Elle chante en duo avec Roberto Alagna, France Gall, Patricia Kaas, Gilbert Montagné ou Lionel Richie.
Son quatrième opus,"Michèle-Anna chez Maxim’s", est un album piano-voix très intimiste. Elle y interprète des titres célèbres, en français, en anglais, et en espagnol , avec une touche personnelle marquée par sa voix médium grave, envoûtante, si particulière.

Aujourd’hui, Michèle-Anna se partage entre ses concerts, ses enregistrements, son travail de création, et l’enseignement du piano et du chant.
Michèle-Anna Mimouni was born in Carthage, Tunisia. Her grandfather played the mandolin, her father sang, and it was not unusual for family meals to end in songs blending the music of Louis Prima, Dario Moreno, Louis Armstrong, Jacques Brel, Édith Piaf, and oriental melodies like "Chéri je t’aime" or "Y'a Mustapha."
She began playing the piano at the age of four, when her mother heard her instinctively and flawlessly reproducing songs on a toy piano. Gifted with a naturally developed ear, she started her musical training with remarkable ease.
At 15, she enrolled at Lycée Racine in Paris to pursue a high school diploma with a special music program (coefficient 4), designed for artists, in partnership with the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris. There, she studied piano, music theory, and chamber music.
After obtaining her diploma, she entered La Sorbonne to study musicology, earning her DEUG and also receiving a second prize in piano, and first prizes in music theory and chamber music from the Conservatoire de Paris.
Her classical training years revealed a deep yearning for jazz, improvisation, soul, and chanson. She returned to singing and studied with masters like Yva Barthélemy and Julas Pelaes.
She pursued jazz improvisation and harmony (piano) for three years at the American School of Modern Music, and also took drum lessons at the Agostini School.
Thanks to this eclectic background, she secured numerous engagements in piano bars and private events, where she shared the stage with Manu Katché, Al Di Meola, Al Jarreau, Jean-Louis Aubert, Axel Bauer, Paco Sery, and Lionel Richie.
She also toured with artists such as Nancy Holloway, Gogol 1er, and Rachel des Bois, and contributed to many albums as a pianist and backing vocalist.
During a master class with John Scofield, she met bassist and arranger Juan-Sebastien Jimenez, who deepened her jazz exploration. Together, they recorded her first album, simply titled "Michèle-Anna," offering unexpected reinterpretations of songs by Vincent Scotto, Léo Ferré, Glanzberg, and Contet.

In 1998, she befriended renowned jazz pianist Brad Mehldau. Later, in 2009, they recorded her second album, "Entre ombre et lumière," released under the Ames label. She wrote lyrics for Brad's compositions, as well as for Ravel's "Mother Goose" suite.

Her third album, "Je kiffe mon café," reveals her talents as a singer-songwriter. Twelve nearly autobiographical tracks in a distinctly French style with accordion, produced with Juan-Sebastien Jimenez, blending jazz, chanson, and classical influences in a poetic reflection on her life.
For many years, she personified the Parisian charm to an international clientele at the legendary restaurant Chez Maxim's, where she entertained diners with a repertoire mixing pop, French chanson, world music, and jazz.
There, she performed for Liza Minnelli, Lady Gaga, Woody Allen, John Travolta... and sang duets with Roberto Alagna, France Gall, Patricia Kaas, Gilbert Montagné, and Lionel Richie.
Her fourth album, "Michèle-Anna chez Maxim's," is an intimate piano-voice record featuring well-known French and English songs, made unique by her deep, captivating voice.
